A Seaside State of Mind

The Wrap

"Today I am wearing, my favorite item. It is not really exciting but it’s a white cotton zippy cable sweater from the GAP, from the last year and I like it because it was not expensive but it gives me the feeling of a Cape Cod rich person. Which, white sweaters do for me for some reason. So, I feel like I’m pulling a fast one. I have a rust stain on the sleeve. I tried to bleach it out and it’s persisting so I feel like it’s a mark of authenticity. I wore it to Capitola where I ate fish and chips on the wharf and it was very seaside-y. I usually wear it in my tiny cabin when I’m trying to think. I don’t really go anywhere classy anymore so I don’t wear it anywhere classy. That’s it! It’s fully zippered, kind of jacket-y, I love a jacket-y thing, I also love sweaters with zippers as a rule. So that’s my favorite item."

The Rest

"I’m wearing blackish gray jeans from H&M, a little bit cropped with a tiny little bell on the bottom, red espadrilles, and a black t-shirt that says, "Coco Made Me Do it." I don’t think the t-shirt refers to Coco Chanel. I think it refers to some other inside joke, but I’m wearing it as a Coco Chanel shirt. I don’t think that’s what it really is. So, somebody at work gave it to me and she bought it because her boss had it. So, now three women at work have it. We also all have the same three little Converse Comme de Garcon sneakers. But they don’t wear those things as normal everyday things, I do. For them, it’s like weekend wear, for me it’s just like 'wear.'"
